William Goldenheim

William founded The North Shore Maritime Center as a not-for-profit organization in late 2020. He is a passionate science teacher, coach, and athlete (or perhaps rapidly becoming a former athlete). He began rowing in Norwalk, CT when he was 12 years old. In 2003 he won a silver medal at the World Junior Rowing Championships in Schinias, Greece. He then went on to row at Brown University in Providence, RI until an injury forced a course change. In 2014 he competed at Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames, England as a member of Union Boat Club.

William’s coaching career began in 2010, working for Greater Lawrence Rowing and the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School. After a stint in the corporate world, he switched hats and ran the Middle School Indoor Rowing Program at Community Rowing, Inc. (CRI). He taught high school science and coached rowing and cross country at Dexter Southfield for five years. In 2019, he began teaching at St. Mary’s High School in Lynn, where he has successfully launched the first school rowing team in Lynn’s history.

From William: “What an honor to be starting two rowing programs in the Lynn area. The cities and towns on the North Shore are incredible and have such rich histories, especially being right on the coast. I am so excited to bring our community members on the water and to provide access to these opportunities that are so deserved.”
